?Tanai?(means Skinny in the Irish - Gaelic Shepherd, female, 7 yrs old, 45 lbs. This youtube is when we first rescued her in Enseneda and took her to be examined and quarantined at a local fellow rescue we work with down there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NHEymgpjUE Tanai was rescued in Ensenada on one of our volunteer rescue missions. She had spent most her life tied up on a chain outdoors w/out food, shelter or even water outside of a house in Ensenada Mexico. We drove by her and could not believe the appalling condition she was in so we emptied out an entire bag of food for her and then set off to do some investigation on her situation. We found out that her owners had already been approached previously by a local rescue in Ensenada and refused to surrender her as they contended she was ?just fine and being fed?. So, Open Arms Rescue decided to give it a try and went to speak to the owners. We insisted they surrender her as she was skin and bones and totally neglected and starved. So after discussions the owners willingly surrendered her to us. She was brought to the USA and underwent testing which confirmed to us that because of her starvation she was in kidney failure. However this didn?t discourage us at all from giving her a chance! We put her on a special Renal Diet and supplements to aid in digestion. She has now come a long way and is putting on weight. She is very very friendly and just wants so badly to be loved. Her current care to improve her health is costing our rescue a pretty penny, but she is worth it. It getting cases like this and turning them around that give us the greatest rewards!
